LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation (LDRC) should be chosen as America's Main Street because of its most important asset - it's people. Our community comes together like no other. In victory and in times of trouble our residents support each other. Typically, when extra funds are needed for medical bills, funeral expenses or to support youth organizations, locals put together fundraisers serving chicken or pulled pork dinners. Folks from all over LaBelle come to Downtown LaBelle's Barron Park purchasing dinners in support of whatever the community needs. We would use the funds from this contest to revitalize our precious park. The park is the meeting place for the annual Swamp Cabbage Festival, Smoke Under the Oaks Rib Fest, Relay for Life and so many other functions that bring our community together. LaBelle hasn't always had it easy between hurricanes and economic crashes and Barron Park has suffered. We would rebuild the park to have irrigation for our famous oak trees, after all LaBelle is known as the City Under the Oaks. The park is in need of new park benches and a new stage where our local dance studios tap and clog throughout the year. We would add lighting to make sure the park is safe for those wishing to take an evening stroll. Having the funds to improve our community gathering place would breathe new life into our town and help create the environment we all desire. It would be an experience of a lifetime to be able to give back to those that give so much.
